Teacher: "Good morning, class! Look at this picture, Do you know what fruit this is?"
Students: ................
Teacher: "Correct. Is it sweet or sour? How do you usually eat it?"
Students: ................
Teacher: "Great. Today, we are going to learn how to listen to instructions on how to make a Refreshing Avocado Smoothie."
The teacher writes a table on the board or uses slides to discuss key terms before students hear them in the text:
Teacher: "Before we listen to the full text, let's guess. To make a smoothie, what equipment do we need? A frying pan or a blender?"
Students: ..................
Teacher: "Exactly. Now, look at these actions. Which one happens first? Adding the ice cubes or cutting the avocado?"
Students: ..................
The teacher explains that in a Procedure Text, the listener must focus on "signpost" words to follow the order.
Starting: First...
Continuing: Next... / After that...
Ending: Finally...
Teacher: "I will say a phrase. Tell me if it is an Ingredient (the things you need) or a Step (the action you do)."
"One ripe avocado." -> (Students: ............................)
"Close the blender lid." -> (Students: ............................)
"Two tablespoons of honey." -> (Students: ............................)
