Instead of just looking at a picture, students start by listening.
The Activity: Play a 30-second audio clip of a specific environment
The Task: Students close their eyes and list three things they "see" in their mind based on the sounds.
Discussion: "What words can we use to describe the noise? Is it peaceful, chaotic, vibrant, or somber?"
Students need to move beyond simple adjectives like "good" or "nice."
Categorization: Create a sensory map on the board.
Sight: .......................
Sound: .......................
Touch/Atmosphere: ......................
The Activity: The teacher describes a famous person or a school staff member using only physical traits and personality adjectives (e.g., "He has a sharp nose, wears thick glasses, and is known for being very disciplined yet humorous").
The Interaction: Students must listen for specific "clue words" (adjectives) to guess the person.
Peer-to-Peer: In pairs, Student A whispers a 3-sentence description of a classmate to Student B, who must identify the person.
Before moving to the model text, students need to recognize the "tools" of description through listening:
Identifying Noun Phrases: Listen to short phrases and identify the adjective + noun combination (e.g., "A breathtaking waterfall," "A kind-hearted teacher").
The Role of 'Is' vs 'Has': * "She is tall/friendly" (Character/State).
"She has curly hair/green eyes" (Possession of features).
